Setting: In a school classroom in Texas
ANNABEL: He was my best friend.
Annabel starts to cry with Henry in her arms.
GREGORY: This is just like that one movie where the invaders find Mr. Anchor’s child at school and try to capture him! Then Steve swoops in with his rifle and-
STACEY: Oh, shut up Greg! Henry’s not coming back. This isn’t a stupid “Invaders” movie.
Gregory drops his head in sorrow.
GREGORY: Well maybe if we can just find a Pegasus, it can lick Henry’s head and the healing powers can-
PROFESSOR: Gregory, why don’t you go out into the hallway? Stacey, you should join him. Annabel, you should let the medics take a look at Henry to see if maybe-
ANNABEL: He’s not coming back. You don’t have to pretend.
PROFESSOR: Annabel, please. Just go outside.
ANNABEL: No.
Police officer approaches the professor and Annabel.
POLICE OFFICER: Sir, can you describe to me the man that came in here?
PROFESSOR: It was dark. We had the all the lights out, but I did see he had long, blond hair down to his shoulders. He was bulky, and he had a scar going from his right ear to his right eye.
POLICE OFFICER: What sort of gun did he have?
PROFESSOR: I don’t know what specific kind.
POLICE OFFICER: How big was it?
PROFESSOR: About this big.
Professor holds out hands about 9” apart.
PROFESSOR: We were all huddled in that back corner. The man shot out the window on the door, and stuck his hand into the room. He shot twice. One hit this boy in the head, and the other just hit the wall.
POLICE OFFICER: I’ll send a call the boy’s parents.
Professor starts to cry.
Annabel kisses Henry on the head.
ANNABEL: Goodbye, Henry.
