3- Semifinal Women's World Cup Game

As we speak the United States women's world cup team is celebrating in Africa!

It is a celebration that they definitley deserve. This morning, the U.S. played the world cup semifinal game againt Australia. Before the game, the whole squad of dedicated girls had butterflies in their stomachs'. They waited as the kick off moment came. They knew that this was the moment to bring their game and play their hearts out. They stepped on to the field showing confidence and no fear at all! The referee blew her whistle and the game began. The U.S. fought hard and took the lead with a goal. Australia grabbed hold of the tie with a come back goal. Both teams fought hard and showed no mercy but Abby Wambach scored a necessary goal for the U.S. in the 79th minute! The U.S. had the lead! In the next three minutes Alex Morgan scored giving the U.S. an assuring lead. The final whistle blew and the U.S. celebrated, for they were going to the finals! They knew that they fought hard and this win was well deserved. Led by Coach Pia Sundhage, the U.S. women were going to the Women's World Cup Finals for the first time since 1999! This game is certainly one to remember. The U.S. play for the championship on Sunday the 17th.
