Austin's mom offers to drive Austin and his friend to the movies. They also have to go pick up their girlfriends. For about 10 minutes everyone was awkwardly staring outside the window, really just thinking not really looking at anything. Austin saw his mom about to turn on the radio as her hand twisted the knob for different channels. He stared at her hand, anxious, the 2 minutes she did that felt like a year to him. Finally music comes out of the radio, which dismisses the awkward for a few moments. Until Austin's mom bursts out singing the same song as the radio. "Stacy's Mom" and what could be more embarrassing than that. She had a high pitched voice that was off-key and kind of raspy. Austin turned bright red and told his mom to stop but she kept on going. He just covered his face and slouched. His friend smiled, but in a way that meant sorry to the girls. They started laughing but quietly and enjoyed it. The boys realized the girls didn't care that much so they didn't pay much attention to it. As they parked in the parking lot the mom went with them. Austin said "Why do you have to go with us?"
"I promise, honey, I won't sit anywhere near you!"
"Okay but please don't bother us."
So as they gathered into the movie theater they found their seats. The lights dimmed and the movie began. 30 minutes into the movie the mom sings a song along with the characters in the movie. Austin, his friend, and the girlfriends all knew it was Austin's mom's voice. Austin looked like he was going to burst out crying. As she kept on going he just stared at the red curtain at the bottom of the movie. People snickered, and the girls laughed again. The movie was over and Austin would not talk to his mom for the rest of the day. The next morning he was filled with anger.
"Why, please just tell me why you would do that?"
"Do what?"
"Sing in front of everyone!"
"I'm sorry it was so catchy I won't do it ever again!"
After that he just forgave her and he never let her drive anywhere with him again.
