I think creating is our purpose in life. Expressing ourselves fulfills us. For me writing was just a minor little part of my schooling that just kept building and building strength until its products and effects attracted more and more attention from my parents, family, friends, and administrators. When I write I really enjoy fiction, in particular fantasy, horror, and poems because it feels as though you’re escaping to another dimension as soon as your pen hits the paper - you are controlling lives, their fate, and the fundamentals that make up your characters. I believe all writers have different characteristics that express who they are and unleash their inner thoughts, feelings, ideas, and emotions. My work incorporates a lot of my dreams, hopes, and imagination, though all writers cover these same bases, everyone has a different mind and many diverse inspirations and thoughts that race through them. That’s what makes our world stimulating and creative writing in particular exciting. Before I write I daydream or take a tour of objects and ideas around the house or outdoors to get a grasp of a subject of interest to write upon. This is something that really helps me and makes an impact on my writing. Also, when I preface my writing with bubble maps and outlines and things like that, I get offtrack and fashion a poorer creation, whereas laying my outline out in my head and then coloring the picture in on paper produces a better story. In my
artwork I see amazing creations that I am proud of and enjoy sharing and reading over and over again. From the words of praise and the awed look on people’s faces after they have read a completed essay, I can’t imagine them feeling any differently than I do. Someone who has really inspired me to work hard, do my best, and never give up is my mom’s dance partner. He has been there for me, helped me overcome difficult situations, and taught me to keep a smile on my face through thick and thin. I am also
inspired by the beauty of nature. --E.R.
