Prompt #41- E.T.

Little Lily was fast asleep inside her cozy bed snoozing away without a care. From outside of her window there was a thud, fallowed with soft screeching noises. This instantly woke the child up, and she decided that it would be a good idea to go out to investigate. In her backyard was a small pod that was no bigger then the six-year-old. There was subtle rumbling and shaking inside of the pod that made the girl back up in fear. It whirled and shuttered until the top popped open letting whatever was there to come out. Immediately the girl ran in terror, not knowing how to deal with the strange thing. The creature leaped out of the small device and chased after her. Her petite legs wouldn’t let her run for a substantial amount of time, and thus, she dropped like a rock into the grass. The little creature took its chance to attack, the moonlight not letting the child get a good look at its frame. I blurred out of sight racing along the shadows to get to the girl. She let out a small scream before the animal pounced. It jumped out of the bushes that covered the walkway and dove onto the girl. The furry creature then gave her a long lick along her cheek, making her giggle. She then embraced the small dog that had leaped on her. It continued to lick her until she pushed it off of her. It seemed like it was just like a normal earth dog, as it was not much smaller then she was. The fur was soft to the touch, much less coarse then normal dogs, and was as if she was petting a cloud and not an animal. It had the same sweet smell as puppy breath as it panted in her face. Once she got board with the furry thing sitting on her chest she sat up and played fetch with the thing with a broken tree branch that just happened to snap near where they were sitting. The thing actually acted like a dog, retrieving it for her immediately after she threw it, seeming not even to move from the spot. After the long night Lily softly drifted to sleep right in the middle of her trusted hound.
The next morning Lily was awoken by yelling from her parents, demanding that she tell them why she was sleeping in the yard. Thus the little girl replayed her own version of the story, being the sneaky little one that she is. “Mommy, I heard a strange noise and wanted to figure out what it was. It was the little doggy over there that did it. He was digging in the trashcan so I pulled him out and started playing with him, and then I fell asleep.” The little girl made sure not to mention the missing spacecraft to her parents. Actually that part kind of scared her, she knowing that it was there the night before didn’t help her nerves at all. Her parents ushered her inside of the house the dog slipping inside after them, getting the vibes that he wasn’t very welcomed by the adults.
Then the little girl popped the question “Can we keep him?”
The mother looked at the father and vise versa, both seemed very displeased by the notion, neither actually wanting the creature. Her father spoke first “Lily, I know you really want the dog, but we can’t keep him here.”
“Why not?” Lily challenged childishly.
“He cannot stay here because we have nothing for him. No food, no bed, and none of even know how to take care of a dog!” The man seemed to get more stressed the more he talked.
“We can buy him food at the store. He can sleep in my room, and I will take care of him.” Lily stated knowing that she was going to win this one. Her father sighed in defeat, and muttered a little ok. Though the daughter was already jumping for joy running up to her new puppy and squeezing it as hard as she could. A thought popped through the alien’s mind as she did this: was this the best idea!
